This site provides electronic copies of the typed transcriptions for each W.W. Staley presidential letter book which encompass the years 1894-1913. The original presidential letter books have been cataloged and can be found in the Belk Library Archives and Special Collections. Unfortunately the letter books are too fragile to scan and provide digitally. Please note that the transcriptions for the letter books have been transcribed directly from the original document therefore all spelling and grammatical errors are derived directly from the original work. W.W. Staley agreed to serve as a non-resident president of Elon College from 1894-1905, without salary or expense account, and began making frequent trips between Elon and Suffolk, VA. As second president of the college, Staley oversaw plans that brought the college out of debt for the first time in its history and paved the way for much-needed improvements to the campus. W.W. Staley passed away October 9, 1932. All digital collections are best viewed using Internet Explorer.
